Seismic Parameters of the Earthquake

The 20th of May of 2012, an earthquake ocurred in the North of Italy at 04:03:53 local time (02:03:53 UTC time) in the Region of Emilia-Romagna. According to the Istituto Nazionale di Geofisica e Vulcanologia (INGV) the magnitude of the event was Mw 5.9 and the hypocentral depth 6.3 km.

The earthquake occurred at 7 km from Finale Emilia, 36 km from Bologna, 69 from Parma and 173 from Milan. Figure 1 shows the position of the epicentre according to INGV and the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC).
