Van-Tabanlı Earthquake (Mw=7.1) October 23rd,2011 Preliminary Reconnaissance Report

This report summarizes the preliminary findings of field investigation studies performed after Van-Tabanlı Earthquake (Mw=7.1). The intention of the reconnaissance studies was to retrieve perishable field data. The most attention was given to the compilation and documentation of geotechnical and earthquake engineering related case history preliminary assessment report, field case histories of highway landslides, rock falls, seismic soil liquefaction-induced lateral spreading and settlement, sand boils will be documented along with performance assessments of two earthfill dams, Kockopru and Sarımehmet located within 50 and 25 km of the epicenter, respectively. The route followed during the field investigation studies is adopted as the natural flow of the presentation of case histories.
