The Mw9.0 Tohoku Earthquake and Tsunami of 11th March 2011

Earthquake Engineering Field Investigation Team (EEFIT).

The EEFIT team conducted a field investigation of earthquake and tsunami impacts in Iwate, Miyagi and Fukushima prefectures. The team was in the field at the end of May/beginning of June 2011. Observations presented include ground motion observations, geotechnical aspects, structural damage from both ground shaking and  tsunami, performance of coastal defences, impact of the event on the nuclear sector, and aspects of the disaster response and recovery.
