In the May 9, 2023 webinar, members of the lifelines reconnaissance team will share their findings on the structural and nonstructural performance of the infrastructures that facilitate the functioning of society. Lifelines include bridges, roads, tunnels, railroads, metro and tram stations, airports, ports, dams, electrical transmission lines, substations, gas transmission lines, water pipes, chemical plants, and power plants. The team gathered data on more than 150 sites throughout the affected region, looking at performance and functionality, the types of failures that caused disruptions, damage patterns, and properties of lifelines that ensured good performance during the earthquakes.
