Clearinghouse Launched for M7.8 Kaikoura Earthquake

On November 13, 2016, significant earthquake struck North Canterbury, New Zealand at 11:02:56 UTC (12:02 am local time). Local magnitude has been reported by GeoNet as M7.8.

This virtual clearinghouse website will be a central location for sharing data and reports collected by experts conducting reconnaissance for this earthquake and its aftershocks. The clearinghouse operation is a partnership between four organizations: Earthquake Engineering Research Institute (EERI) as part of its Learning from Earthquakes Program, New Zealand Society of Earthquake EngineeringGNS Science, and QuakeCoRE.

Colleagues with information about earthquake impacts or who plan to conduct reconnaissance should send information to the topic-specific addresses indicated below. If you have a large amount of information you would like to share on the website, a google drive link can be provided for you. If you are planning to conduct reconnaissance, please read this Guiding Principles .
