Following the magnitude 7.0 earthquake in Haiti on 12 January 2010, the Government of Haiti is leading the Post Disaster Needs Assessment (PDNA) process with technical support and facilitation provided by the United Nations (UN), the Inter-American Development Bank (IADB), the World Bank (WB) and the European Commission (EC).
A central point in the PDNA process is the estimation of damages to the building stock. This report describes the findings of the building damage assessment for the affected area carried out jointly by the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) Operational Satellite Applications Programme (UNOSAT), the European Commission Joint Research Centre (JRC), the World Bank Global Facility for Disaster Reduction and Recovery (GFDRR) and Centre National d’Information Géo-Spatial (CNIGS) representing the Government of Haiti.
