EERI Response to M6.2 Earthquake in Italy on August 24, 2016

norcia-italy-2016On Wednesday, August 24, an M6.2 earthquake struck 10 km southeast of Norcia, Italy (1:36 a.m. local time). The EERI community extends its sympathy to the victims as rescue and relief work continues. EERI is currently monitoring the situation from media reports and notes from colleagues in the impacted region as part of its Learning from Earthquakes Program. EERI has launched a virtual earthquake clearinghouse website to archive earthquake data and post observations from this event.
