This post presents some photos and observations from Andrea Barocci, P.E. when he visited damaged buildings and churches in the area stricken by the seismic sequence.
The different types of damage mechanisms encountered during his reconnaissance, which was undertaken a few days after the main shock (August, 28th), are reported in the following. Field observation of failures ranged from total collapse to light damage, as shown in the upcoming photographic sequence. At the time of the survey (August 28th), buildings were not accessible.
Andrea Barocci, P.E. is a structural engineer working in the field of seismic risk; he is a member of ISI (Ingegneria Sismica Italiana) and he is the head of ISI department “Norme, certificazioni e Controlli in Cantiere”.
