Nepal Earthquake: Communicating with Communities Updates from The Communicating with Disaster Affected Communities (CDAC) Network.

  • CDAC Network Report 1 (April 28, 2015): The first report of the status of the communication system in Nepal provides an overview of the resources available; telephone, radio broadcasts, and internet services. The report indicates that many telecommunication services are offering free credit and SMS services to users in Nepal. The report also indicates a plan for delivering accurate and timely information to the impacted communities. 
  • CDAC Network Report 2 (April 29, 2015): This report provides an update on the telecommunication services in Nepal. This report also provides the status of efforts to provide broadcast and translation services to the impacted communities. There is also important information about services to connect families and provide accurate and timely information about the situation on the ground. 
  • CDAC Network Report 3 (May 2, 2015): This report provides an overview of the situation in Nepal on the date of the report as well as an update on the availability of communication technologies, broadcast and translation services, a needs assessments, and current efforts to meet the needs. 
  • CDAC Network Report 4 (May 4, 2015): This report provides an update on the availability of communication technology including; cell phone service, broadcast media, translation services, and social media. This report also provides an update on the needs assessment as well as efforts to meet the identified needs.
  • CDAC Network Report 5 (May 6, 2015):  This report provides an update on the situation overview as well as the status of communication technology platforms including; cell phone service, broadcast media, translation services, and social media. This report also provides an update on the needs and the efforts to meet those needs.
  • CDAC Network Report 6 (May 8, 2015): This report provides an update on the availability of communication technology and an explanation of its use in the response to the relief effort. The highlights include; the communicating with communities working group, the radio working group, and the emergency telecommunications cluster. There is also an update on the availability of cell service, broadcast media, translation services, and social media.
  • CDAC Network Report 7 (May 12, 2015): This report was developed before the second earthquake, so some of the information may have changed. This report indicates that rural communities are in need of information pertaining to the availability of services and relief distributions.
