From September 8th to 20th, 2010, a EERI team led by Mary Comerio, UC Berkeley, investigated the effects of the Darfield (Canterbury) earthquake. The report describes the findings of this multidisciplinary reconnaissance team sent by EERI’s Learning from Earthquakes program that includes seismicity, geotechnical effects and Lifelines, engineered structures, unreinforced masonry building performance, nonstructural losses, response and recovery, and issues for future scrutiny.
